As we work to restore normal water service to our remaining customers, we are asking ALL water customers to continue conserving water for essential uses only. If all our customers responsibly use this precious resource, our system will recover more quickly.

There is a mandatory evacuation for houses along the following Montreat streets: Texas Road, Texas Road Spur and Texas Road Extension. There are shelters available at First Baptist Church in Swannanoa, Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church in Black Mountain and Trinity Baptist Church in West Asheville. Use caution and be safe.

There has been a water line interruption in the Upper Mississippi area of Montreat. This will impact houses on Mississippi Road at Mecklenburg Circle, Frist Road, Mississippi Ext. and possibly Westminster Terrace. Greybeard Trail is back open. Many thanks to Public Work Crews who spent all day clearing the roadway.

A large tree fell this morning at the beginning of Greybeard Trail. It has caused a significant amount of damage and will require the road to be closed most of the day. The Public Works Department has asked for all residents, visitors and guests to steer clear of downed trees, power/cable lines and work areas where Town Staff and Duke Energy Staff are currently working. There are a lot of trees/lines down and Town Staff is working diligently to get everything cleared in a timely and safe…

Please be aware that there are downed power lines and cable lines all over Montreat. The lines could be in driveways, yards, main roads and side roads. Please do not under any circumstances touch or attempt to move these lines because they could still be live and could cause serious injury.

Water is out on Tennessee Road…..it could potentially be awhile until fixed. The Water Department is actively fixing the problem. Thank you for your understanding!
