Montreat Post Office Christmas Party

The Montreat Post Office Christmas party is Tuesday, December 9th. Be sure to stop by the Post Office and sign up to bring party food and beverages.

Town Hall Landscaping Progress

We are excited to share that, thanks to the wonderful support shown during our recent Trivia Night fundraiser, visible progress has already begun! Earlier this month, a dedicated landscaping team spent several hours cleaning up, pruning, and winterizing the grounds around Town Hall. The area now looks cared for, refreshed, and ready for the cold weather ahead.
Beginning this spring, we will start installing new landscaping as part of our effort to return Town Hall to its beautiful and welcoming pre-Helene appearance. In this season of gratitude, we are truly thankful for everyone who has contributed time, resources, and enthusiasm to this project. Please take a moment to notice the improvements, and stay tuned for more updates in the months ahead!
Holiday Scam Awareness Message from the Montreat Police Department

As we head deeper into the Christmas season, the Montreat Police Department would like to remind everyone to stay vigilant. This time of year often brings an increase in phone scams, email scams, mail fraud, and other fraudulent attempts to obtain money or personal information.
Scammers are becoming more sophisticated, frequently posing as law enforcement officers by using publicly available information such as real names, ranks, and agency details. These scams typically involve a caller claiming there is a pending legal issue and demanding money to resolve it. Threats of arrest or citations are common, and elderly residents are often targeted.
Please keep these important reminders in mind:
- Law enforcement will never ask for money, gift cards, checks, or any form of payment over the phone.
- Law enforcement will never request money or gift cards by mail.
- Law enforcement will never demand payment to “clear” or “correct” any legal process.
- If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and disengage.
Additionally, be alert to text messages claiming that a family member is in jail and needs money. Individuals who are actually in custody do not have access to personal cell phones and must call from a designated jail phone.
Many recent scams involve sending cash through wire transfers, purchasing gift cards, or granting remote computer access. If anyone pressures you for money or personal details—stop and contact the Montreat Police Department. We are here to help protect you.
Lastly, please remember to lock your homes and vehicles during the busy holiday season. Unfortunately, this time of year can bring increased opportunities for theft.
Wishing everyone a safe, warm, and Merry Christmas season.
Warm regards,
Tim Bradley
Montreat Police Captain
