Making Helene Restoration Progress

Detours were the norm over the past several weeks in Montreat. But those detours were signs of progress! Seven paving projects were completed as the Town made progress in restoration after Hurricane Helene. Six road patches and the Town Hall parking lot were repaired for a total of approximately $135,000 in funds that were set aside for hurricane restoration.
Although the recent work represents progress, there are still more than 20 road projects yet to be completed for an estimated total of $1.4 million, including major projects such as Appalachian Way ($250,000), Kentucky Road ($200,000), and Lookout Road at a whopping half million dollars. As funds are reimbursed for other completed projects from FEMA and/or they approve and advance payment on others, we will continue to complete repairs on our road system along with other non-road projects.
We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding as we move forward together in this long-term endeavor.
