Sign Update

Last month we shared about the new sign ordinance and that yard signs are permitted, but they must be on your own property and not in the Town right-of-way. For the full story from the June 14 Special Montreat Minute, CLICK HERE.

Related to signs, the Montreat Police Department has received reports that yard signs have been taken from private property recently. Just a reminder that such action is considered misdemeanor larceny. Please respect people’s right to display signs on their own private property.

Final Summer Club Event on Wednesday, July  28

The final Summer Club activity of the season will be a picnic on Wednesday, July 28 at 6:00pm. It will be held in Gaither Fellowship Hall. Please bring a dish to share. Drinks will be provided.

The Summer Club is extremely grateful to Will Graham, Ron Vinson, Nancy Midgett and John Casper for the three wonderful programs they provided.


Please Watch Your Speed

Just a reminder that the Town-wide speed limit is 20 miles per hour, unless otherwise posted. Portions of Assembly Drive are 30 mph, but only for short distances out of the central Town area. We have seen a significant increase in traffic (vehicle and foot) this summer season. Unfortunately, higher rates of vehicle speed are also a part of the increase. Montreat Police are on patrol to ensure the safety of all. Thanks for helping keep Montreat safe.

Cottagers Annual Meeting, July 24

The Montreat Cottagers will hold their annual meeting this Saturday, July 24th at 10:00 am in Upper Anderson. There will be updates from MRA, Montreat College, the Town, the PHC as well as election of officers for the 2021-2022 year. This will be the only Cottagers meeting this summer. MRA requests that masks be worn.

Updates and Reminders

  • The Montreat Tree Board will meet on Tuesday, July 27 at 9:30am in the Town Hall. The meeting will be live-streamed. CLICK HERE for streaming instructions.
  • The previously scheduled Planning & Zoning meeting on August 26 has been changed to September 1 at 10:30am. Meeting details will be provided at a later date.
