A Message on behalf of the Montreat Police Department 6/18/25

Officers with the Montreat Police Department have responded to 3 different calls during the past 3 weeks with bears getting stuck in unlocked cars. The damage in the photo above did not happen in Montreat but it is a great example of what could happen. Bears have an amazing sense of smell and smells can linger in cars. Please do not leave food in vehicles and lock all cars…even in Montreat!
