Mayor’s Summary of the April 10, 2025 Town Council Meeting

Hello Montreaters,
We welcomed more than a dozen attendees on this rainy evening and were honored they joined us. My meeting summary follows below. The official minutes will be in next month’s agenda packet. And, you can view tonight’s meeting recording by CLICKING HERE.
Public Forum
- Jean Norris asked that when the Army Corps of Engineers comes to clean the hurricane debris from Flat Creek, will they also remove debris from the tributaries as well? Town Manager, Savannah Parrish, answered that she did not know the answer, but given other conversations she’s been involved in, she doubts it. If she gets a more succinct answer, she will let everyone know.
- There were no other questions at the time, so I asked Savannah to give her Helene Update that was on the TC meeting agenda. She began with an overview of what has been accomplished in the past six months, which was a significant list including:

Town Offices Closed Next Friday, April 18th

The Montreat Town offices will be closed next Friday, April 18th, in observance of Good Friday. Hours will resume to normal at 8:00am on Monday, April 21st. Sanitation pickup will not be affected and the Convenience Center will be available.
Daffodil Party Today at 2:00pm

The community is invited to Montreat’s annual Daffodil Party today, April 11th, from 2:00-4:00pm at 513 Greybeard Trail. The event is hosted by Margo and Tyler Smith in collaboration with the Montreat Adult Summer Club. Friends and neighbors from Montreat and beyond are welcome. Bring a treat to share and join the community in this grand spring celebration.
Updates and Reminders

- The Planning and Zoning Commission will meet next Thursday, April 17th, at 10:30am in the Town Hall Community Room. The meeting will be live streamed. CLICK HERE for instructions. All are invited to attend.
- The Town Council is looking to add a resident (full or part time) to the Planning and Zoning Commission. To learn more about the duties and responsibilities of the Commission, CLICK HERE. If you are interested in being considered, please write [email protected].
