The Wilderness and Open Space Committee of the Montreat Cottagers will bring to a vote an important issue at the Cottagers annual meeting on July 20th, 2024. The vote relates to the ownership of the Rocky Knob Wilderness Conservation Easement, which is currently owned by the Cottagers. Ownership of this property has been discussed at the 2022 and 2023 Cottagers’ annual meetings. Prior to a vote, the Wilderness and Open Spaces Committee will offer two forums for discussion with the community. There will be two informational meetings prior to the vote. These opportunities will occur on Saturday, July 6th at 10:00AM and on Sunday, July 14th at 2:00PM. Both meetings will be in the meeting room of the Montreat Town Hall. If you are unable to attend in person, a Zoom Link for each meeting is provided below. This is not the time that a vote will be taken, but a time for you to become informed before voting on July 20th.
You will be eligible to vote at the July 20th meeting if you are 18 years of age and a paid-up member of Montreat Cottagers’ before the beginning of this annual meeting. To join this organization, please contact Hugh Alexander, Treasurer, Montreat Cottagers’, Inc., with a check in the amount of $25.00 made payable to the Cottagers’ at P.O. Box 111, Montreat, NC 28757.
