Landcare Receives Flat Creek Crossing Grant
The Town of Montreat and the Landcare Committee gratefully thank The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC) for providing the Pigeon River Fund Grant of $34,065 for the Flat Creek Crossing Accessible Trail. “We are so thankful for the support of the Community Foundation as we continue to work to make the dream of an accessible trail a reality,” stated Town Manager Savannah Parrish.
The Community Foundation is a nonprofit serving eighteen counties in Western North Carolina. The Foundation is a permanent regional resource that facilitated $34 million in charitable giving last year. CFWNC inspires philanthropy and mobilizes resources to enrich lives and communities in Western North Carolina.
Designed to provide wheelchair access to Flat Creek, the new trail is located just inside the gate on the right side, south of the Memorial Garden. Flat Creek Crossing will have designated parking, easy drop off, hard surface, and a gently-sloped trail route, which will make Flat Creek Crossing a great destination for anyone with mobility or sensory challenges. A picnic area with an accessible picnic table will add to the enjoyment of creekside recreation at this lovely site.

Your desire to dedicate your many talents to work in government is to be commended.

Bears Can’t Read
Just a reminder that bears can’t read the sign that says “Trash Container for Tenants Only”, nor would they abide by it if they could! Additionally, chains, locks and latches do no good if they are not affixed to the clasping mechanism.
Please be sure you, your guests, and your tenants know to lock trash containers securely. Situations like this often result in Town staff having to pick up the mess, with fines levied to the property owner. Please help us to minimize the bear activity in Montreat.
