Montreat Minute 12/29/23
Happy New Year from the Town Council and Staff!
Holiday Hours and Sanitation Pickup
The Montreat Town offices will be closed for the New Year holiday on Monday, January 1st. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, January 2nd, at 8:00am.
Please note that sanitation pick up will be delayed until Tuesday, January 2nd. However, the Town Sanitation Convenience Center will be open 24/7 for Montreat residents. Of course, police services will be available as usual.
2024 Town Calendar in the Mail
The 2024 Town of Montreat Collection Schedule was mailed this week. The calendar shows dates for garbage/recycling, brush and bagged leaves, bulk pickup, Town Services holidays, and more. Check the back of the calendar for useful tips and suggestions. Additional copies are available at the Town Hall and can be downloaded by CLICKING HERE.
Cottager Directory to be Reprinted in 2024
It’s that time again: the Montreat Cottager Directory Committee is updating the Montreat Directory for 2024. The Directory is updated every four years. As part of the updating process, individual emails will be sent to all Montreat homeowners toward the end of January. The email will contain the most up-to-date contact information the Directory Committee has for you. Please review the information in the email and follow the directions to confirm the information or to make corrections. You can also opt not to be included in the directory.
There are a lot of moving parts to updating this document, and the Directory Committee appreciates your taking the time to provide the information by the deadline. The new Directory will be on sale to Montreat homeowners over the July 4th weekend next year. Details regarding sales will be announced in the Montreat Minute and MRA Announcements late next spring.
If you have any questions, contact Laurie Morgan at [email protected] or 828-669-7626. The Directory Committee, which puts a great deal of time and effort into the Directory, is composed of Meredith Greene, Ellen Henschen, Laurie Morgan, Grace Nichols, and Ann Vinson. Thank them for their work.
New Water Bills This Month
You recently received your water bill but it looks a bit different. Under the new financial software system, the water bill format has been improved. It is easier to read but still provides all needed information about your water usage.
As mentioned in last week’s Montreat Minute, because the December bills were mailed late due to the transition, you will have the same amount of time to pay your bill and no late fees will be assessed for the December bills.
Updates and Reminders
- As of the end of January, several openings on Town boards will be available. There will be two openings on the Board of Adjustment—one for a regular member and the second for an alternate member. Additionally, one opening for a regular member on the Planning and Zoning Commission will be available. If you are interested in being considered for any of the positions, please contact Savannah Parrish, Angie Murphy, Kayla DiChristina, or a Town Council member.
- Do you receive your own copy of the Montreat Minute or know someone who doesn’t? Sign up for the Sunshine List to receive the Montreat Minute and stay “in the know” about the Town’s happenings. CLICK HERE to sign up for the list!
