Justin Query, Wildfire Mitigation Forester with the NC Forest Service, visited Montreat on March 3 and performed a Wildfire Risk Assessment for our community. In this webinar, he will present the result of his findings, speaking to us live and using slides to illustrate his points. And, if the technology works like we hope, you will be able to type in your questions and Justin will answer them in real time.
If you would like to review his reports prior to this webinar, you can do so, again using your computer. Go to the Montreat Landcare website (www.montreatlandcare.org), click on the “Projects” tab at the top of the screen, and then click on “Wildfire Safety: Firewise.” Scroll to the bottom and you will see three document titles. “Documents 1 and 2 Montreat Assessment” are Justin’s reports. The third title, “Individual Homeowner Assessment” is essentially a worksheet that everyone can use to determine improvements you can make on your own property to mitigate the spread of wildfire. You might want to print out that document; Justin will refer to it. The really good news here is that we can do a lot that is neither expensive nor overly time-consuming.
