Town Council Meeting
The monthly meeting of the Montreat Town Council is Thursday, November 14 at 7:00pm in the Walkup Building. The Public Forum precedes the Council meeting at 6:30. Landcare Committee News
The Montreat Landcare Committee met on Tuesday of this week. Several important items were discussed of interest to the community:
- Special December Meeting– December’s Landcare meeting will feature a report from the Montreat College students and Instructor Josh Holbrook who conducted the Flat Creek stream study, which includes the Hellbender study. The meeting is December 4 at 10:00am in the Allen Building.
- Save the Date– The 2020 Montreat Native Plant Sale will be April 25 on Moore Field. Put it on your calendar, as it promises to be a great event.
Questions & Answers
Last week we summarized the results of the Montreat Minute readership survey and mentioned that we would introduce a Q&A feature on a periodic basis. We are kicking off the Q&A this week with three questions we received:
Q: Is there a contact list with names phone numbers and email addresses and cottage names for Montreat residents?
A: There is a telephone directory for Montreat residents with phone numbers, street and PO Box addresses, email addresses and cottage names. Please email Grace Nichols for more information at [email protected].
Q: How do we get info about the private rentals in Montreat? We may want to rent our downstairs.
A: Private rental information is handled by MRA (Mountain Retreat Association). For the Privately Owned Rental List of available homes and to request an application to place your own home on the List, contact Hope Barker at [email protected] or 828/419-9866.
Q: Is there a Nextdoor forum for Montreat residents and if so how do we join?
A: We are not aware of a Nextdoor online forum for Montreat residents. However, there is a Sunshine List where the Town sends out periodic email updates of what is going on in Town. CLICK HERE to join the Sunshine List.

Gratitude to NCDOT
We’re thankful for the fast and efficient work of the North Carolina Department of Transportation for paving Montreat Road from State Street up to the Montreat Gate this week. It’s a much better, safer and more pleasurable road to travel. Thank you, NCDOT!
