Volunteer Opportunities

The Town also has citizen volunteer opportunities available. The Board of Adjustment currently has several openings on this very important quasi-judicial body. Sewer Rate Hike

We were recently informed by the Metropolitan Sewerage District (MSD) that they are imposing a 2.5% rate hike effective with the July bills. The MSD is a public utility charged with the collection, treatment, and disposal of sewage from all jurisdictions within Buncombe County. Please note that your water bill includes a fee for clean water, which is provided by the Town of Montreat, and a sewage fee for the MSD. The Town is not increasing rates for clean water and has no jurisdiction over the rates imposed by the independent MSD for sewer services. That’s it for now.
