Montreat Minute for June 21, 2019

Robert Lake Park is Open!

Congratulations and many thanks to MRA, especially Facilities Director John Quinzi and his crew, for completing the restoration of Robert Lake Park on time as promised! With children or without, stop by the park to see the excellent work that was done to repair damage from Tropical Storm Alberto and prevent similar flood damage in the future. Thanks again to MRA for this wonderful and popular feature in Montreat.

Sanitation Schedule Announcements

Two reminders of importance:

  1. The Town instituted the two pickups per week schedule several weeks ago, with the second pickup on Fridays. Please remember not to place bags or containers at curbside until day of pickup unless contained in bear-proof receptacles.
  2. The semi-annual bulk pickup will occur on July 9. Plan now for this special service offered by the Town.

Public Works Building Update

We’ve been talking a great deal about the new Town Hall. But there’s another public building project that is in process. Last year, funding was granted for the construction of a Public Works building behind the Town Services Offices. The building will be a cement pad and a metal building to house and protect Town equipment and provide storage space. Two RFPs have been issued, which may be accessed by CLICKING HERE. The submission deadline is noon on July 1 and bids will be opened at 2:00pm the same afternoon.

The Board of Adjustment will be meeting next Thursday, June 27 at 7:00pm in the Walkup Building. The public is welcome to attend.

That’s all for now. Have a great week
