Montreat Minute for December 14

Mayor’s Summary of the December 13 Town Council Meeting

Greetings Snowy Montreaters!

After nearly 18” of snow dumped here in our cove, a hearty group of Montreaters convened for the December Town Council meeting. Given the weather conditions, we were most grateful for the folks who came out to observe and provide their comments during public comment periods. And thanks to Mary Standaert for sharing her homemade peanut brittle with all attendees!

Sanitation Pick Up

Apologies to everyone that we were not able to pick up trash this week due to the snow and hazardous conditions. However, we will be back to our regular schedule on Monday, December 17. In the meantime, should you need relief, stop by the Town offices today and pick up a free green trash bag and/or blue recycling bag to get you through until Monday. Compliments of the town.

December Holiday Schedule

Given the upcoming holidays, please note that the Town offices will be closed on December 24 and 25. Sanitation pickup will be delayed until December 26. The offices will also be closed on January 1, but normal sanitation pickup will occur on December 31.

January Shift for Leaf Pick Up

Just a reminder that as is the typical procedure, starting in January leaf pick up will occur only every other week until fall. Stick and brush pickup will continue weekly. Please plan accordingly.
