Mayor Helms Declares a State of Emergency Ahead of Hurricane Florence
In preparation for heavy rains with the potential for flooding, mudslides, and infrastructure damage predicted to occur in Montreat Mayor Tim Helms has issued a State of Emergency. Despite its southern trajectory, Hurricane Florence poses a threat of conditions that may cause widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property. The Mayor has determined that declaring a State of Emergency is necessary to maintain order and protect public health, safety, and welfare, and to secure property.
A State of Emergency declaration will be necessary to recovery efforts if Montreat suffers damage from the storm.
