And the winner is….

Willa Roberts!

Willa Roberts, age 9, is the winner of the Mayor’s Chalk Art Challenge. Willa’s masterpiece, Rainbow Dog, was a runaway winner against the other eight entries of the contest.  Willa was inspired by her own dogs as well as the color palette in her chalk box. Willa is a third grader at Black Mountain Primary School, and lives on Woodland with her mom and dad, Cameron and Bill Roberts.

Mayor Helms, in a Zoom conversation with Willa, thanked her for her entry and inspiring others to be a part of it. “We just wanted to get people outside and to do something positive during this pandemic”, the Mayor told Willa. “And you certainly did. I’m grateful for all the ‘artists’ who participated”

The second highest vote getter was Margaret Bauer with her tribute to the graduating class of 2020.

Willa’s winning entry, Rainbow Dog

Willa and her dad, Bill, and Town Administrator Alex Carmichael listen to Mayor Helms during a Zoom conference call as he congratulated Willa for her winning entry and presented her with her prize: a gift card to Kilwins!

As Mayor Helms said, thanks to all who participated including the artists and those who “Liked” the artwork on Facebook. If you want to see Willa’s entry as well as the other eight, go to:
