Montreat has more than 26 miles of roads, owned and maintained by the Town. The roads are maintained by Montreat’s Public Works department. The Town provides road maintenance, rights-of-way maintenance, snow removal and other road services. Each year, the Town repaves roads based on a carefully developed Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). In addition to public roads, there are a number of private roads in Montreat. If private, home owners on the private roads are responsible for maintenance of the road and ensuring accessibility.
