Montreat Minute for January 4

Town Council Meeting: Thursday, January 10

Next Thursday’s Town Council meeting will not be your “ordinary” meeting. Instead, plans for the new Town Hall will be presented and acted on by the Council. Floor plans, elevation plans and a special color rendering will be presented by the architect and builder along with all other details including financial aspects. You can have a pre-meeting look at everything by downloading the meeting agenda. Click Here for the agenda.

As usual, the Public Forum will begin at 6:30pm in the Walk Up building, with the Council meeting immediately following at 7:00pm. Please join us for this exciting “next step” in Montreat’s progress. We are working on live streaming of the meeting and will let you know how you can access it.

Leaf Pick Up Change

Just a reminder that as is the typical procedure, starting in January leaf pick up will occur only every other week until fall. Stick and brush pickup will continue weekly on Wednesdays. Please plan accordingly.

Interesting Fact

Many people ask how many residences are in Montreat. Because Montreat is so unique with duplexes, separate apartments and similar situations, it’s not easy to determine. But based on water meters and the county tax records, there are approximately 633 residential buildings (including duplexes, garage apartments, etc.). Further, there are 54 public dwellings (owned by MRA, Montreat College and others).

See you at the Town Council Meeting!
