A Message from the Mayor About Winter Storm Diego

A Message from Mayor Tim Helms About Winter Storm Diego:

“Fellow Montreaters,

We are all aware of the predicted winter storm that is expected this weekend. Forecasters are predicting significant snowfall and some chance of ice and power outages. Power outages need to be reported by phone to Progress (Duke) Energy.

With all this in our immediate future, we need to be prepared as a community.

Our town employees will be plowing and treating road surfaces as the snow accumulates. Please park your vehicles off the road allowing the snow plows  easy passage. We must prepare the roads for your safety and allow plenty of room for emergency vehicles to get to their destinations.

Our policemen and women will be patrolling the streets and neighborhoods so keep an eye out for them.

The snow, depending on intensity, could impact garbage pick up on Monday the 10th which may delay pickup until Tues. or Wed. so stay tuned for further details on that subject.

Please prepare your household for several days of being shut in and possibly without power. Also, prepare your automobiles for hazardous travel. Be aware of your neighbors and their possible needs and be prepared to help as circumstances dictate.

God bless all and have a safe weekend.. “
