Council Meeting

A reminder that the monthly Town Council Meeting will be this Thursday, September 13, in the Walkup building. The Public Forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. The Agenda Packet can be found here.

Addressing the Address Issue

During the August Town Council meeting, Mayor Helms appointed Commissioner Alice Lentz to address the address issue. The issue, related to recognition of Montreat street addresses, is a long and complicated matter with many entities, governmental and non-governmental, involved.

Addressing this matter effectively requires the development of a plan and an outline, over time, of a series of delicate steps. The plan being developed is grounded in the essential elements of basic research and community folks’ input. More info to follow, as our work proceeds.
